SchoolStatus Communication Platform featuring Video Chat

SchoolStatus

What it is: SchoolStatus Communication Platform featuring Video Chat is a SaaS platform for K-12 school districts that enables two-way, secure communication between school and home informed by comprehensive, real-time student and district data. The SchoolStatus platform integrates the district SIS, assessments, benchmarks, and more. Then, the platform pairs student data analytics with communication tools that enable educators to have data-informed conversations and build meaningful relationships with stakeholders. Designed for easy integration and ease of use, SchoolStatus delivers a customized experience for each user and removes technology, language, and access barriers to support increased parent engagement, improved teacher satisfaction, and more personalized student support.

Why we like it: We like this tool because it has so many different ties into elements districts need to communicate. We also like that teacher numbers are kept private, and it builds efficiency into teacher-parent communication while tying lots of data together in one place. Since the lockdown, virtual parent meetings have become very successful. School-parent communication is imperative and combining all tools into ONE is needed everywhere. This is a unique tool combining data into the interface with chat and video meeting capability. It records all parent communication and enables users to use a mobile interface that is convenient.

As always, we encourage you to perform your own due diligence before making any investments.

ClassVR

ClassVR

What it is: With all-inclusive headsets, content and teacher controls, ClassVR allows teachers to create exciting and immersive lessons while always remaining in control of the classroom environment and content.

Teachers can immerse and engage their class in ways they could never imagine, using an exciting technology that many won’t have ever experienced before. From visiting the moon, holding a heart in your hand to viewing the Great Wall of China, students can visit impossible places and experience impossible things all from the safety of the classroom.

Learning through experience is a powerful way to learn, boosting knowledge retention by up to 75%. ClassVR lets your students experience every lesson, providing teachers with the opportunity to demonstrate and explain complex concepts first-hand while creating unforgettable learning experiences that align to your existing curriculum.

ClassVR has been a valued and vital resource for schools during the global pandemic. With many school trips canceled, ClassVR has allowed schools and districts to ensure students don’t miss out on these valuable experiences by delivering virtual field trips instead. For those students from rural or disadvantaged backgrounds, ClassVR has also provided experiences that students may well not have otherwise been able to participate in, opening up accessibility to all students.

Why we like it: For years, we have been discussing using AR and VR in the classroom, finally there is a total package for teachers to use with students. ClassVR provides everything teachers need to introduce virtual and augmented reality into the classroom, including devices, headset management tools, charging stations, content, and teacher professional development. Schools and districts can buy a single classroom solution that allows teachers to create immersive lessons that are highly engaging to students. This is the future of education and this bundled product has been desired for years.

As always, we encourage you to perform your own due diligence before making any investments.

Edthena video observation and collaboration platform

Edthena

What it is:Edthena helps you streamline feedback to your teachers. Teachers upload videos of instruction—classroom or online—and colleagues can provide timestamped feedback. Edthena is used by schools and districts across the country to support PLCs, ongoing observations, peer observations, teacher induction, Japanese lesson study, and even micro-credential learning. Districts can also build secure video libraries, sharable to all district staff, filled with exemplar videos tagged to curriculum and district standards.

Why we like it: This tool is timely as teacher observations were limited during COVID. This tool allows teachers to record their lessons and get feedback from their department chair, PLC, administrator, or team member. It also allows teachers to share model lessons that work. Self-reflection during the review process of lessons has demonstrated the greatest growth in teaching skills. The National Board Certification process included video analysis years ago because the research on teacher improvement after video reflection is very high. This tool allows for others to add comments and give feedback in real-time while watching the video. It replaces in-room observations that can cause stress with an administrator in the room.

As always, we encourage you to perform your own due diligence before making any investments.

Reading Progress in Microsoft Teams

Reading Progress in Microsoft Teams

What it is: Reading Progress in Teams is a free tool that allows educators to assign reading fluency passages that students can independently record themselves reading out loud. Educators can review the audio and video with AI-assisted help on reading accuracy and speed, and gather insights automatically on student progress. Reading Progress works on all platforms and devices, including PC, Mac, web, iOS and Android.

Why we like it: Improving reading fluency is very time-consuming for teachers and requires 1-on-1 assistance to students. This free tool is a game-changer as the students read and record themselves and get AI-assisted feedback individually. This is like having a teacher sitting with the student making corrections and suggestions to each student individually in real-time. The teacher dashboard is a great tool to provide teachers feedback about the most common errors so they can make whole group corrections and target specific issues. We think it’s great that it works on all platforms, and it’s free. Research demonstrates evidence of student growth.

Here’s a look at one of the Top Ed Tech Products of 2022:

SchoolStatus Communication Platform featuring Video Chat

SchoolStatus

What it is: ChalkTalk is a platform for teachers to build, personalize, & run their real-time learning courses. 97% of teachers in the US assemble or write their own lesson plans & teaching materials—with no material relationship to the commercial curriculum. This takes up to 2.5hrs/day and is often one-size-fits-all. ChalkTalk enables teachers to build hyper-personalized courses in under 2 minutes. It’s currently being used to power supplemental ELA & math instruction in high schools leading to higher scores on the PSAT, SAT, and ACT.

In just 10-15 weeks, schools that used ChalkTalk to power their supplemental ELA & math instruction saw their students experience 2-6x more growth on test scores compared to their peers who received 52 weeks of traditional classroom instruction. Our customers include Duval and Pasco, the 20th and 53rd largest districts in the US, to individual schools from New York to Hawaii.

Teachers kick off ChalkTalk by selecting an outcomes measurement test and entering their school schedule. Then ChalkTalk automatically generates custom lessons plans and actionable teaching materials for every day in the schedule:

Whole group instructional materials: items like teaching slides and scripts to facilitate instruction by the teacher. Materials are generated adaptive to the course schedule. Small group activities: students are grouped adaptively in small groups and given real-time activities that match their skill level. Individual practice: finally students apply what they’ve learned through personalized practice that matches their individual skill levels.

ChalkTalk then measures progress using an official state placement & exit test (e.g. SAT, ACT, PSAT).

Why we like it: ChalkTalk is a modern tool for lesson planning and instructional design that can aid teachers in devoting their time and teaching talents to working with students and not planning instructional activities. ChalkTalk automatically generates custom lessons plans that include whole group instruction, small group activities, and individualized practice for every day in the academic schedule. This tool is very helpful to teachers as it gathers materials and creates actionable plans to save time and allow for more personalized learning and human interaction as the teacher is freed from planning time. The data overwhelmingly demonstrates that these lessons improve student learning in math & ELA.

As always, we encourage you to perform your own due diligence before making any investments.
